The DC has sent a report to the commission, recommending sensitive (B grade) status for Shikaripur constituency. Additional security troupes are expected at the constituency, and a central observer may camp here till the election process is completed.

The constituency will also come under the radar of the EC, and every move of the politicians will be closely observed.

Former CM B S Yeddyurappa has filed his nomination paper as the BJP candidate from Shikaripur constituency on Thursday, while S Bangarappa, another former chief minister, is expected to file his nomination as the Samajawadi party candidate on Monday.
