Ivan, Bava, Khader file nominations

Three Congress candidates from Mangalore and nearby constituencies filed their nominations on Monday.

Ivan D’Souza, the candidate for Mangalore South Constituency filed his nomination and he was accompanied by former minister B A Moidin, former mayor Vijaya Arun, P V Mohan and others.

U T Kader, candidate for Mangalore (former Ullal constituency) filed nomination to Assistant Commissioner Sameer Shukla, accompanied by Kanachur Monu and Dinakar Ullal.

Moideen Bawa filed nomination for Mangalore North constituency and he was accompanied by former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, former mayor K Ajith Kumar and others.

Assets
As per the affidavit submitted by Mr Ivan D’Souza, his assets value Rs 1.75 crore including cash and jewellry. Rs 22,25,781 worth assets are in th name of his wife Dr Kavitha, while he owns Rs 72,51,045 worth assets. Rs 6 lakh is deposited in the name his children, the affidavit stated.

Further, Mr Moideen Bava’s total assets value Rs 91,22,017 as per his declaration.

As the candidates were filing their nominations at different places such as the City Corporation, DC’s office, Congress party workers and supporters of the candidates were seen waiting outside these building, brushing aside the scorching heat.

Independent
B Vishwanath, a former corporator from Congress also filed his nomination on Monday as an independent candidate for Mangalore South constituency.

No bank balance, shares, bonds, insurance policies, vehicles, jewellry, no non agricultural land, no commercial complexes, no house or apartment at all. All that Mr Vishwanath has is 0.44 cents of agricultural land and a loan of Rs 12,000, as per his affidavit.

Known as an honest member of the corporation, Mr Vishwanath had been a reason for humiliation to the then ruling Congress party due to his speech. Mr Vishwanath was the member of the Corporation last year during Congress rule and accordingly he was denied ticket as his ward reserved.

Office opened
Former minister B A Moideen inaugurated Mangalore South Congress election office at Balmatta, prior to Mr Ivan D’Souza filing his nomination paper. Leaders K S M Masood, Kodijal Ibrahim, Vijaya Arun, M G Hegade, Sureshchandra among others were present.
