Seemanth Kumar Singh assumed charge as the new district Superintendent of Police on Monday.
H S Revanna, who was SP here, was transferred as per the Election Commission directive for not cooperating with implementation of election code of conduct. For the first time police officers of the district had protested against the transfer.
Addressing a press
conference here on Monday Mr Seemanth Kumar Singh said he will fully cooperate with the implementation of election code of conduct.
“Election is a very responsible work and all cooperation will be given for the free and fair conduct of election,” he said.
He said he will attend the meeting between election officers and the police on Tuesday and go as per the decision of the meeting. He has already held a meeting with the police officials of the district on the election preparedness.
A clear picture on the sensitive booths of the district will be known at the meeting.
Accordingly, security will be provided to all the areas, he added.
Replying to a question on custodial death on Saturday, Mr Singh said Additional SP K Yellappa is inquiring into the incident. Action will be taken against the police officers if found guilty, he said.
Kolar Rural Circle Inspector V L Ramesh has been placed under suspension for showing negligence in implementation of code of conduct, he said.
