Fake currency racket busted; 4 in police net

The Vijayanagar police on Monday arrested four persons on charges of circulating counterfeit notes. They were in the denominations of Rs 100 and Rs 500.


The four are: Akshaya Kumar (29) and Suresh (40), both from Thrissur in Kerala; Palani Swamy (37) of Hosur; and Sridhar (25), a native of Bangalore. They were nabbed at Naveen Park in Vijayanagar.

Their modus operandi was to ask the people for an address and use the opportunity to exchange counterfeit notes for small change.

Two cellphones, two motorcycles and an autorickshaw were recovered from them.
Investigations reveal Vinod, a native of Kerala, approached the four six months ago near Majestic bus station and offered them a commission of 40 per cent for circulating such notes.

Youth electrocuted

A 16-year-old youth was electrocuted in Hebbal police station limits on Tuesday morning. Robert, who climbed the window grill of a building to catch a pigeon, came in contact with a high tension wire and was electrocuted. Robert was a resident of Rabindranath Tagore  Nagar.

Hunt for  accused

The anti-dowry cell of CoD has launched a hunt to nab Subramani alias Muniswamappa (26), the main accused in the murder of his wife Chayadevi. He had allegedly murdered her on November 24, 2007 at Thammenahalli. Police said he killed for dowry and suspecting her fidelity. A resident of Vijayapura in Devanahalli, he is 5 feet tall and of heavy build. Public who can provide information on the accused can call CoD on 22094501 / 9845550460.

Nabbed

Nelamangala police nabbed Anjana Murthy (22) and Manju (23) on charges of murdering real estate agent David Raj (33). The latter, a resident of Govindpura, was murdered on April 22 night. The two have been sent to judicial custody pending further investigation.

Traffic violations

Yeshwantpur traffic (West) division police booked 3,724 cases of traffic violations in a recent drive. Violations include 640 offences of jumping the signal and 242 cases of driving in one-way roads.
