The Income Tax Gazetted Officers Association’s Karnataka and Goa Circles sent 400 ‘Get Well Soon’ postal cards to pay panel chief Justice Srikrishna on Tuesday.

The Association’s All- India Joint Secretary K R Narayana told Deccan Herald this was a novel way to protest the Commission’s “discriminatory treatment” of lower and middle cadre Central staff. “In IT department, higher level officers like commissioners, chief commissioners, secretaries and members of CBDT members are given a hike up to 38 per cent to 81 percent. The same for the officers in the cadres of assistant or deputy commissioners, IT officers, clerks and others is negligibly less between 15 per cent and 41 per cent”  he said.

Totally, 8,500 such postal cards will be despatched from the IT officers across the country, while 50,000 more cards are also expected to be sent under the banner of Confederation of Central Government Gazetted Officers Organisations.
