For young readers
In a new collaboration, Mapin, renowned for its range of quality books that deal with a broad spectrum of Indian arts and crafts and Harper Collins Publishers India, have come together to produce books that bring the rich art and culture of India to young readers. The new volumes cover a diverse range. There are traditional folk stories that combine with crisp, colourful modem illustrations and books that acquaint children with classical Indian arts like miniature painting using original illustrations, sources from museums and libraries around the world. Children are sure to enjoy these books, written and designed with the Indian reader in mind, and be encouraged to read more. Which means, of course, that they are bound to be popular with parents and teachers as well.
Child's day
Established in 1999, Child's Day Montessori House of Children is one of the few Montessori schools to be recognised by the Indian Montessori Centre. At Child's Day, children in the age group of 2 1/2 years to six years will be admitted. Children are nurtured in a specially prepared environment. Our specially prepared learning environment provides an integrated and a highly personalised educational environment for children.
The Annual School Day celebration was held at Suchitra Film Society, Banashankari 2nd stage. The programme was based on the theme 'The Wheels on the Bus' which is a popular rhyme among children. The entire programme was designed like a bus journey where children were dressed in costumes of various occupations, since people from all walks of life travel in the bus.
A child was made to be the bus driver and another as the bus conductor. The destination of the bus was 'Happy Nagar' and at each bus stop there were performances like science experiment, magic show, life cycle of a frog, all by children. Finally, the bus reached the destination and the passengers (children) were truly happy. The auditorium was made to look like a bus with art work of windows and banners such as 'ladies', 'emergency exit', 'seniors' etc. being put.
Overall, it was truly a lovely programme for both children and as well as for adults.
