Ashutosh Gowariker would always say Aishwarya reminded him of those princesses straight out of Amar Chitra Katha. Playing a princess comes naturally to Aishwarya.

She has done so in The Last Legion, Jodhaa-Akbar and is about to play Mumtaz Mahal opposite Ben Kingsley in a historical epic on the Taj Mahal.

At the moment she’s focusing on being rajkumari to her real-life rajkumar in Mani Ratnam's next film in Hindi which is the prolific and versatile director’s first intense love story. Raj Santoshi’s Ranbir-Katrina starrer is also a pure love story.

Looks like 2008 is going to  be the year of romance  for Hindi cinema.
