Corporates wake up to HIV
The Indian corporate sector must address the issue of HIV/ AIDS to avoid a scenario where it will affect industrial production, Dr Karan Bir Singh, principal specialist, German Technological Co-operation Health sector support, India, has said.
Speaking at a workshop organised by GTZ and The Energy Research Centre (TERI), he said the situation needs immediate attention. “We have 20.4 million people affected by the disease. Absenteeism of HIV-infected workers has brought down production in African countries; this may repeat in India too,” he said.

Special services from KSRTC
The KSRTC will operate 250 additional buses  for Ugadi from April 4 to 7. Services include
 - special buses to Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Sringeri, Horanadu, Gokarna, Kollur, Tirupati and Hyderabad from Kempegowda Bus Station - additional buses from Mysore Road satellite bus terminus - buses to Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi, Puducherry, Coimbatore, Ooty and Kodaikanal from BMTC Shantinagar terminus - return journey from KSRTC for benefit of passengers returning on long distance routes - reservations through ‘AWATAR’ online booking counters.

Criminal proceedings stayed
The High Court has stayed the criminal proceedings initiated against former MP K C Kondaiah and his wife, over allegedly cheating Karnataka State Finance Corporation (KSFC). Justice K Bhaktavatsala admitted their petition in this regard and stayed further proceedings in the criminal case pending before 4th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bangalore.
