Muslim Democratic Front to contest polls
The Muslim Democratic Front - a combination of the State units of Indian Union Muslim League, Indian National League and Tipu Sultan National Republic Party - will contest the elections to the State Assembly next month from 50 constituencies of Karnataka.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, former Rajya Sabha member Abdus Samad Siddiqui said the Front would field its own candidates in 50 constituencies where Muslim candidates have a chance.
“For the remaining seats, we will align with other like-minded parties. Our aim is to form an United Democratic Front, a forum of like-minded parties that will fight for economic and political representation of minority communities.” Mr Abdus Samad Siddiqui said.
Vote bank
Alleging that the Congress had used the Muslim community only as a vote-bank, he ruled out the possibility of having any alliance with the Congress and BJP. The Front would consider supporting the JD(S) and other parties if they agreed to the its conditions, he said. He said the Front would come out with its election manifesto within two days.

In my personal opinion, the muslim democratic party should never field it's candisates seperately but should join hands with congress and have deep discussion with SMK and sonia Gandhi. An agreement can bereached amicbaly with the congress. If MDP fields it's own candidates, then it will benefit BJP since the votes will get devided between congress and MDP.
The leaders of MDP should think before they ink anything.SMK is our man and can have an agreement with congress with all conditions required.

This is an unwelcome move. It will more or less help communal force to take lead. Unlike kerala, Andhra and Tamil Mulsims, Karnataka Muslims have remained away from the main stream kannada language. They have all northy Muslims to give speech in Urdu completely sidelining Kannada. Certainly, there will b agenda for Urdu & nothing for kannada. The community lives with the false idea that if u speak Kannada, u are a kaafir. Do v need a front that has no respect for kannada in mosques & madrassas
