Come summer, and you see the svelte n’ sinuous lasses scorching the streets with spaghetti-strapped dresses. If you too are a bona-fide lover of spaghetti dresses, well, it’s the right time to exercise your choice! For, there are myriad ways of sporting spaghetti straps on various apparels for different occasions.
To begin with, if you’re the one stubborn about sporting spaghetti-strapped tops only on your fave slim-fit jeans, then go for those short spaghetti-strapped cotton tops with pretty polka dots or fetching floral prints, on white backdrop. For sheer exclusivity, choose the tops with teeny bunch of folds (either running vertically below the neck, or running horizontally along the hemline). If you’re aiming at a smidgen of flamboyance, then opt for the tops with candy stripes.
Incidentally, spaghetti straps have redefined fashion, by blitzing the fashion market in their new avatars. Just sample this style for any top or dress. Instead of the usual parallel running of straps along the shoulders, you can have one single strap go round the neck as halters. Or, just allow the two straps (on shoulder’s either side), to slither over each other in cross-wise direction, either in front or at the back of the neck. Yet another option is to have dual straps at each side. The aforesaid spaghetti-strap styles can be tried on tops, which look simply splendid when clubbed with uber-cool asymmetrical hem-lined skirts in iridescent colours, shimmying till the shins. You can even don these tops with full-length tiered skirts, flowing towards the heels. (Just try those creased, crushed, crinkled skirt varieties too). Complement the dress with ballerina shoes and chunky jewels.
Team it well
In case you’re attending that much-awaited shindig, then you can flaunt these spaghetti straps with mermaid or tulip skirts, or even with bubble/puff-ball skirts, which clearly sets you apart from the rest. If you aren’t a game for this party-wear option, then simply settle for spaghetti-strapped tops teamed with cargos or pedal-pushers. If you are aiming at casual yet a tad funky look, then opt for spaghetti-strapped shift dress (single straight dress sans waist). Accentuate your contours with a braided belt. Deck out in bead accessories for some extra pizzazz.
What if you’re attending a big bash at a swanky club? Simply slip into a sensuous silk or satin palazzo with a matching spaghetti-strapped top that looks positively ravishing. (Palazzos are women’s trousers with wide loose legs, somewhat resembling a full skirt. Remember retro sharara?) You can even try gaucho pants, which are shorter version of palazzo that ends at knees, and have a fitted waist with downward flare. Yet another groovy option would be to try spaghetti-strapped tops on harem pants in chiffon or georgette. (Remember Kareena Kapoor’s dress in the track Mauja Hi Mauja in the Hindi flick Jab We Met?) You can also just go for single-piece spaghetti-strapped slinky full skirts in rich fabrics like velvet.
