The police will conduct narco analysis of top three arrested Students’ Islamic Movement of India leaders — Safdar Nagori, Aami Parvez and Qamaruddin Nagori.
Necessary permission from the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Dhar has been obtained in this regard on Friday.
Police moved an application in the court seeking permission to conduct narco analysis test of the three accused following which the court granted its approval.
The tests will be conducted either in Bangalore or Ahmedabad based Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL), police sources said.
The top SIMI leaders were continuously giving misleading statements to the police, making it difficult for the investigating team to crack the case, the sources said, explaining the necessity of the narco analysis test.
Thirteen top SIMI leaders were arrested from a house in Shyam Nagar area of the city on March 27 where they were holed up to organise a meeting of its activists.
The SIMI activists have been kept in high security Armed Police Training College where intelligence team of the state police and teams from other states were interrogating them.
Five held in UP
Meanwhile five active workers of SIMI were arrested in Jabalpur on Friday.
“After the recent arrest of SIMI workers at Indore and Ujjain, police were maintaining a constant vigil in areas where SIMI activities were being run,’’ said superintendent of police Rajesh Tripathi.
Police received definite information about the banned outfit’s presence in Gohalpur area from where Sheikh Sarfaraz, Mohammad Shafiq, Mohammad Yunus, Ghiyasuddin and Naseer Ahmad Ansari were apprehended.
