'Vote Congress to power'
DH News Service, Tumkur:
The Congress needs to be voted to power if the poor and the downtrodden are to be uplifted, said MLC and SC Division President N Manjunath.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Zilla Congress  Activists’ Convention on Saturday, which was organised by the Congress Zilla Samithi, SC (Division).

The samiti should convene the meeting twice in a year and discuss the various problems and plan schemes for the welfare of the SC and the ST. However, H D Kumaraswamy and B S Yeddyurappa during their 20 months reign did not convene even a single meeting. Also, the legislators belonging to SC and ST were not given the due importance. The JD(S) and BJP coalition government did not work for the welfare of the people, he observed.
The decision taken by JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda that he would not seek the support of Congress if the party doesn't attain majority, is welcome. Mr  Deve Gowda and his son H D Kumaraswamy have realised that they will not be able to win even a minimum of ten seats, he critiqued.

Also, the Congress party will win more than 150 seats in the Assembly polls and takeover the administration of the State, said Mr Manjunath confidently.

Severe struggle will be initiated to secure basic facilities to the deprived, said Congress Zilla President Shafi Ahmed.

Moreover, all the Congress leaders garlanded the portrait of Babu Jag Jeevan Ram on this occasion, as part of his birth centenary celebrations.
