'Casteist forces harm countrys progress'

The casteist forces in India have failed to make use of talents which has an adverse effect on the development of our country, stated litterateur and critic Dr Nataraj Huliyar.

He was speaking at the 101st birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, organised by the Social Welfare Department and the District Administration in Tumkur on Saturday.

Regretting over casteism, he said that, many talents are not being utilised due to this cruel system and are simply wasted. This is a curse to India and all those who follow the system are non patriots, he added.

Babu Jagjivan Ram had years ago stated that private sectors will be dominated by casteism and this has been turning true if one observes  the injustice meted out to real talents in our country today. For this, Jagjivan Ram had also stated then that both the private and public sectors should have same rules. His fight casteism was remarkable, he said while adding that if Dr Ambedkar was pioneer in fighting against casteism, Jagjivan Ram fought it a Gandhian mode.

Deputy Commissioner S R Umashankar, litterateur K B Siddaiah also spoke. Taluk Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ramanjinappa, Forest Officer Ravishanakar, Tahsildar V Patharaju, Zilla Panchayat former member Prasanna Kumar and others were also present.
