Special programme for farmers
Kolar, DHNS: In order for the small and very small land holders who are involved in agriculture and can improve the yield, the government has decided to come to their assistance by giving a few things at concessional rates from April 15. They include agricultural equipments, power tiller, light irrigation unit, pesticides for protecting crops, bio fertiliser and the like.

The necessary grants will also be given for this. The farmers who are interested in utilising this facility should register their names at the Farmers’ Contact Centre, Taluk Assistant Agriculture Centre or Joint Agriculture director. While registering they should also pay their portion of the money, said District Agriculture assistant director, in a release.

Cricket tourney
A district-level tennis ball cricket tournament has been organised on April 6 and 7 at Kuppahalli village in Srinivasapura taluk. It carries an attractive cash prize and a trophy. For more details call the manager M Manjunath-9964457136, K M Rajanna-9964457137, said a release.

Stickers in Kannada
The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike district unit president K N Prabhakar has urged for the use of stickers printed in Kannada instead of in English to be pasted on government vehicles while on election duty.
He has said that instead of the sticker saying ‘On election duty,’ in English it should say, ‘Chunavana karya-2008,’ in Kannada instead of an English.

Films coaching camp
A films coaching camp in association with the Ray Institute of Film Technology and under the joint auspices of Srinivasapur taluk Hodali village’s Dr B R Ambedkar Janapada and Culture and Sports Association, Kalavida Samaja and Cultural Service Association will be held from April 11 to 17.

The camp will include training in acting, direction and production. Interested may send their 2 recent photos before April 8 to Secretary Kalavida Samsthe, No 4, Municipal Complex, Opposite Post Office, Srinivasapura-5631135 and register their names.

Appointed to NSUI
Venkatswamy has been appointed as Kolar District NSUI president and N Ravindra as president of Kolar City NSUI unit, said State NSUI (Student Congress) president N Srinivas, in a release.

Veerlappaswamy jathre
The Veeralappaswamy jathre will be held from April 9 to 14 at Vanarasi village in Muduvadi gram panchayat in Kolar taluk.

On April 10 Brahmarathotsava will be held, said Kolar taluk panchayat executive officer Ramakrishna in a release.
