Album: Liverpool 8
Artiste: Ringo Starr
Available on: EMI
An “autobiographical travelogue” by Richard Starkey better known as Ringo Starr— former drummer of The Beatles— is what we have here! Starr dedicates his new album Liverpool 8 to Liverpool, England where he comes from. If you are perplexed by the credits which go “Produced by Ringo Starr and Mark Hudson and Over-produced by Ringo Starr and Dave Stewart”, it was because of how Stewart took over with producing the album after Hudson who had initially been working on it and Starr parted ways.
The title track gives us an idea of how Starr left the place he grew up in order to pursue his dreams. He stays true to doctrines of peace and unity, that The Beatles practised, throughout the album. Love of course is the dominating theme here. The lyrics have been co-written by Starr. The other songs in Liverpool 8 that recreate the Beatles nostalgia with easy melodies include Think about you, For love, Now that she’s gone away, Gone are the days, Give it a try, Tuff song, Harry’s song, Pasodobles, R U Ready?, Love is, and If it’s love that you want.
