Son's accident cripples widow
DH News Service, Bangalore:

After losing her husband Mahboob Pasha eight months ago, Asma took solace in her 18-year-old son and a daughter. But her dreams of good days ahead turned into a nightmare when her son Suhail met with a tragic accident that confined him to a bed.

Suhail was working with a company and his job was to distribute bills to the company’s clients. On January 9, this year Suhail left the office in the company’s auto-rickshaw to distribute bills. He was sitting at the front with the driver when the auto met with an accident that shattered his family. A scooter rammed into the auto-rickshaw. As a result, Suhail fell on the ground and the auto-rickshaw over turned and fell on his left leg breaking his bone above the left knee.

The boy had to undergo a critical surgery at Bowring Hospital where a rod was implanted. Due to the surgery, the boy developed a rift at the joint of his left knee. Asma says, “Due to the surgery Suhail’s left leg has become longer than the right one and the doctors have asked him to wear a heel shoe in the right leg for the time being. Doctors have said that they will conduct another operation after six months, which may require at least Rs 2 lakh.”

Asma who works as a tailor is finding it tough to make both ends meet since she earns hardly Rs 2500 a month.
“My husband was a vegetable vendor at city market. So long as he was alive we never faced such a financial hardship but after he is gone, a series of misfortune have struck us,” says a weeping Asma.

The accident burdened her family in deep financial crisis as she has borrowed around Rs 70,000 from money-lenders who are now asking her to return the amount.

Asma lives at House number  614, 17 cross, 2nd Main, Hidayath Nagar. People who want to assist her can contact: 99862-56013.
