Binnypet, Jayamahal, Bharathinagar, Uttarahalli and Varthur constituencies are no more in the picture.
As many as four constituencies have been reserved for Scheduled Caste category, against only one in the last election.

Total number of voters in Yelahanka assembly constituency during elections in 2004 was 6,35,308. But this time the number has come down to 2,38,831. Thanks to delimitation process. The erstwhile Yelahanka constituency has been divided to three segments - Byatarayanapura, Pulakeshi Nagar and Hebbal.
Basic necessities such as roads, Cauvery water supply, parks, playgrounds would be prime issues during the polls. In the previous assembly the constituency was represented by Congress MLA - B Prasanna Kumar. He had won against BJP candidate C Munikrishna. V Shivaraj who contested on JD(S) ticket stood in the third position.
According to sources Prasanna Kumar is planning to contest for Pulakeshi Nagar constituency this time. Around 15 Congress leaders are trying to contest for the constituency. Among them former Yelahanka CMC president Krishnamurthy, Dasanapura Block Congress president Madavara Chandrappa, Hesaraghatta Block Congress president Chokkanahalli Venkatesh are prominent.
Film producer E Krishnappa is expected to get JD(S) ticket. Former ZP member and HAL Employees Union president Vishwanath Reddy is said to be contesting on a BJP ticket.
Byatarayanapura is one among the new constituencies in Bangalore. The constituency has been formed by bringing together parts of erstwhile Byatarayanapura CMC, Yelahanka CMC and a few villages.
The constituency has been facing inadequate basic needs including drinking water. Residents of the area had high hopes after becoming a part of BBMP, but their dreams are yet to be realised.
The constituency falls in the limits of Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency represented by BJP leader H T Sangliana.
Karnataka State Youth Congress president Krishna Byregowda, is expected to contest from the constituency. He represented Vemagal constituency in Kolar district twice. The JD(S) is expected to field party’s working president Narayanaswamy for the constituency. The BJP is said to have finalised name of A Ravi, cousin of former minister R Ashok for the constituency.
