Bringing an end to speculations that the National Commission for Women would get a new chief, the Centre on Tuesday re-appointed Dr GirijaVyas for a second term as the chairperson of the apex women’s rights body.
Referring to the new programmes she would like to push through during her second tenure Dr Vyas told Deccan Herald that rights of the disabled women would get the utmost priority and the commission would also closely monitor the implementation of the existing laws on prevention of atrocities on women.
“We are drafting a new bill for changing the definition of rape and we would submit that to the Centre in the near future,” she said.
