It’s now changed for better
What’s new in CET 2008:
Beginning this year the Common Entrance Test (CET), will see a host of changes and the counselling process will be more transparent.
CET Cell is KEA now : The biggest change this year, is that the CET Cell has become Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Since its conception as an autonomous examination body, CET 2008 will be the first ever common test for admissions to first year professional courses, to be conducted by the authority.
Transparency in Reserved categories: To ensure the clarity and complete transparency in the counselling process, the KEA will put up the details of candidates who have selected seats under various reserved categories. After the vacancy round, KEA will publish on its website all the details of the candidates who have selected seats under the reserved category during the seat selection process. The details include candidates fathers name, category under which the seat is selected and annual income of the parent, and other vital details.
Says Syed Jamal, Administrative Officer, KEA, “ the counselling process will be more transparent from this year onwards and the details of the candidates selected under reserved category will be put up on the website. Anyone who finds that a candidate has furnished false details can raise an objection or challenge the information given, with the KEA. This will help to clear all the discrepancies within the system if any exists’’.
Computerised Admit Cards: The CET admit cards, from this year will be computerised. “Admit cards with the photograph can be downloaded in cases where students have not received their admit cards under unavoidable situations. Students need not panic at the last moment if they have misplaced or lost their admit card’’ said SG Hegde, KEA Director and Pre-University Commissioner.
The admit cards for CET 2008 can be downloaded from the KEA website http:// kea.kar.nic.in from April 10 onwards.
