Idol of Lord Ayyappa stolen
A precious five-metal idol of Lord Ayyappa was stolen from a temple at Maheshtala in South 24-Parganas district of West Bengal on Tuesday, PTI reports from Diamond Harbour. Police said the temple door was found broken in the morning by its employee Minati Mandal. She immediately informed priest Gopal Krishna Sharma who found the idol missing.
New UNDP Asst Administrator
India’s Ajay Chhibber, a veteran at the World Bank covering both research and policy issues, has been appointed Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), reports PTI. Chibber, who has worked at the Planning Commission, replaces Hafiz Pasha and will hold the rank of Assistant Secretary General.
