In an interesting development, the wife of a senior IAS officer from Karnataka has urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to suspend her husband from service in a bid “to save her husband’s life”.
In a letter to Governor, Ms J N Jayashree, wife of Mr M N Vijayakumar, Administrator of Command Area Development Authority (CADA), Belgaum, has said, ``My husband, one of the senior IAS officers, has been attempting to introduce transparent system and introduce systems to help citizens to fight corruption for more than two decades.”
She has given a list of lapses on the part of government to convince the Governor as to why she had made the ``extremely odd request.”
Her letter said, “It may be appropriate to add that Mr Vijayakumar is the only IAS officer from India to find a place in the Transparency International website for the courage shown in fighting corruption, he is the only IAS officer from the country whose name finds place in the Wikipedia under world famous whistleblowers, he is the only IAS officer from India whose name finds place under the truth tellers list of the Wikileaks.”
She said her husband was one of the finalists for receiving the Shanmugam Manjunath Trust Integrity Award given in memory of Manjunath, an ex-officer of IOL who was murdered while on the lines of duty. He received the intimation to participate in the award function in New Delhi on March 28.
``My husband immediately applied for permission to participate in the function. But the chief secretary told her husband that he can not even attend the function leave alone participating in the function,'' she adds.
