Two cops injured as pistol goes off

Raichur, dhns: Two policemen were injured when a loaded pistol went off due to the negligence of two persons who had come to deposit the pistols at the West police station on Monday. The injured are: head constable Tippanna and constable Devanna. The accused is Dr Tipperaya’s father Ningappa. He has been arrested.
A notice was issued to all the gun licence-holders to deposit them at the respective police stations in view of the forthcoming assembly elections.

Accordingly Ningappa had come to the station to deposit the pistol. But he had not removed the bullets from the pistol. Even as he was handing over the pistol it went off. The bullet ripped through Tippana’s left hand and a splinter of the bullet hit constable Devanna’s lips.
