Economy To Avoid Waste
New Delhi, Aug. 9.
Prime Minister Nehru told the Lok Sabha that certain projects had either been postponed or abandoned and some posts had been abolished or kept unfilled as part of the Central Government’s economy drive. Mr Nehru was replying to a question tabled by Mr Radha Raman and 18 members on the economy pressures of government.
Mr Nehru said that with a view to ensuring economy government’s financial and other resources were utilised in the best possible advantage.
Rebel City Izki Surrenders
London, Aug. 9.
The forces of the Sultan of Oman are reported to have received the surrender of the city and the fortress of Izki, according to news reaching London today. No other details were available here. The city fortress – held by the rebels for about three weeks – had been bombed by the British Royal Air Force.

Bailable Warrant Against Antulay

Bombay, Aug. 9.
The prosecution against former Maharashtra Chief Minister AR Antulay on corruption charges began today with Additional Sessions Judge PS Bhutta issuing a bailable warrant in sum of Rs 10,000 with an equal surety returnable by September 3.
The Judge issued the order after hearing the complainant Ramdas Nayak former MLA of the BJP, finding that there was “sufficient ground” for proceeding against the accused in the case.
