Dubbing yaake, original ok!
Stylish director Indrajit Lankesh is back. This time with a Hindi film, Shaadi ke After effects. Originally conceived for both Hindi and Kannada audience, the film initially featured an exclusive song on the hit pair Ganesh and Sanjana (Pooja) Gandhi.
Titled Ella Ok, Maduve Yaake, the film ran into trouble almost immediately as the director had decided to ‘dub’ the Hindi version into Kannada. Now that was a case of ‘blindsight’, since releasing films dubbed into Kannada was banned way back in 1965. Wisdom dawned on all and now we get to see only the Hindi version starring Arbaaz Khan, Madhuri Bhattacharya, Tara Sharma and others.
Meanwhile, Indrajit’s sister Kavitha is all set to begin her next film Avva, based on her father late P Lankesh’s award winning novel Mussanjeya Katha Prasanga. And the cast? Vijay in the lead with Smitha and M P Prakash in the role of Gowda! Isaac, who has scored the music for several award-winning films will be the music director.
Back in the reckoning
If one Sanjana in Sandalwood has been reluctant about the name and wants everyone to call her by her own name Pooja, there’s another Sanjana, who has been rather quiet ever since she sizzled in Ganda, Hendthi and a Boyfriend and was unnecessarily branded a sex bomb (she can act, people)!
After an immensely forgettable Autograph, Please, Sanjana seemed to have said goodbye, shooting for ads alongside hot bods including John Abraham. She recently bagged a role opposite Mohan Lal in his next and it was only a matter of time before she came back to good ol’ Gandhinagar.
The man responsible for this is none other than Ravi Belagere, who as a police officer, had nailed
her down in Ganda, Hendthi... as well! Sanjana can now be seen in Varasdara, if only in an item song. This surely will cement her earlier reputation, but let’s hope she also gets some meaty roles proving that she is not a bimbette.
Small revelations
Producer Srinivas, who is producing Varasdara, seems a changed man these days. Or to be precise, more forthcoming. Chastised by several journalists during the mahurat of his film for not giving a clear-cut story idea (the responsibility was passed on to Ravi Belagere and Guru Deshpande), Srinivas was keen to prove journos wrong. And he chose to narrate the story of his next film!
Harishchandra Ghat, starring Vijay, is a love story where the lead pair never meet each other—but they love each other in fantasy scenes and songs! And you guessed right, Vijay reprises his role in Duniya here too. But we won’t spoil the fun by revealing too much.
All for his son
Master Kishan of C/O Footpath managed to beat competition and jealousy in the industry to bag a couple of awards at the recently held Giffony International Films Festival. Likewise, his film has been screened across the State, where children are flocking theatres along with parents and friends and getting inspired to take studies seriously.
But we had not heard of the film inspiring a parent to launch his son into the industry! Yes, Ramesh a cinema hall owner in Belgaum has just done that. He is producing Aralida Hoovugalu for his son Srinivas, who is in Standard III. The determined father does not want his son to be just another child artiste with a few scenes in a film.

So, Srinivas is the 'bala nayaka' of the film, whose title was inspired by none other than Bettada Hoovu, that got Puneet his national award and whose songs remain fresh in memory. Hope this film about a Devadasi's son, fulfills aspirations of not just the producer but also serious cinema buffs.
