TN plans cable network
Chennai, DHNS:

The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday decided to seek a licence from the Centre to launch  a cable TV network in the state.

Steps in this regard would be discussed at a cabinet meeting on August 11.  The government decision to foray into cable TV business follows the fallout between Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s family and the Maran brothers, owners of Sun TV network.

Their Sumangali Cable Vision enjoys near-monopoly, covering 80 per cent of the households in the state.
