Actor Ramesh Arvind is on a high these days. Not of the narcotics or alcohol kind, but of success. His second outing at the box office as a director is paying rich dividend now. ‘Satyavan Savitri,’ another comic caper after the hugely successful ‘Rama Shama Bhama’ has completed 50 days and looks good enough for a century!
Not one to just bask in the glory, Ramesh has already busied himself and how! Metrolife caught up with the gregarious actor:
How is the response to ‘Satyavan Savitri?’
Fantastic. ‘Satyavan Savitri’ has proven me right. There is always good audience for clean comedies. It has completed 50 days and am sure will go the RSB (‘Rama Shama Bhama’) way.
That calls for some celebration. Anything in mind?
Sure. We will definitely have celebrations. But right now, I am concentrating on my future projects.
And they are...?
I am directing two films in the near future and no, they won’t be back-to-back. One is a love story, set in corporate background. It is still in the scripting stage, we are exploring a lot at the moment.
Then there is ‘Accident’, to be produced by Madhu Bangarappa. But that one will take time as Madhu is keen on taking up other projects as well. So I guess, I shall be directing a love story soon.
That is for the big screen. What about the small one?
Ah, yes. I am producing a serial for Kannada Kasturi channel called Detective Drona with Anant Nag playing the detective.
I am very excited about it. I am also the serial’s creative head so you can be sure that the serial will have a lot of creative inputs from me. We have already shot a few episodes/pilots. The serial will be telecast in November.
Aren’t you directing the serial?
Oh, it would be my greatest pleasure to direct Anantji. He is such a versatile actor. It is a pleasure to work with him.
Let’s see how things shape up first.
Two feature films and a serial — all in a short span of time. How do you manage it?
Want to know my secret? It is simple time management. Period.
