Holy Bridge
Hindu outfits to step up protest
Chennai, DHNS:

The Rameswaram Ram Sethu Protection Movement is organising a nation-wide fast on August 12 to protect the Ram Sethu (Adam’s bridge) between Danushkodi near Rameswaram and Talaimannar in northern Sri Lanka which faces destruction under the Sethusamudram canal project, the pontiff of Pejawar Mutt, Sri Visweswara Theertha Swamy, said here on Friday.

Addressing mediapersons, Swamy Visweswara said the fast in Chennai would be led by him and Viswa Hindu Parishad’s international working president R Vedantham. Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan would preside over the fast at Rameswaram.

Following this, a yagna would be performed on August 26 in which monks from all over the nation would participate, the Pejawar Mutt pontiff explained.

The next phase of agitation and plans would be unveiled after this event, he said.
