Wise Registry Cleaner Wise Registry Cleaner is acclaimed to be a safe Registry cleaning tool. It scans the Windows registry and finds incorrect or obsolete information in the registry. By fixing these obsolete information in the Windows registry, the system can work better and more quickly. Wise Registry Cleaner has a user friendly interface. It provides two modes for user assistance. It also provides two ways of cleaning up: “Delete To Recycle Bin” and “Permanently Delete”. By default, Wise Disk Cleaner only searches junk files for deletion. If you choose “delete to recycle bin”, then they can be recovered. For more about the utility you can browse the FAQs at http://www.wisecleaner.com/faq.html. The Wise Registry Cleaner [1,011.93K], last Version 2.85 release date was 28/07/2007. Copy and Paste is a great feature of Windows. However, sometimes it can be a nuisance too as it copies the formatting along with the information. For example, copying totals from a formatted spreadsheet, and then pasting just the totals into a report can be especially difficult if the program into which that information is pasted doesn’t have a “Paste Unformatted Text” option. The ClipText Program displays Windows “clipboard” contents as plain text, then copies that text back to the clipboard. This can be quite useful when you want to copy something and paste elsewhere without the formatting (eg. fonts, colours, line spacing, etc). ClipText also lets the clipboard be emptied (eg. for privacy). The ClipText, v1.40, for Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2K/XP/Vista can be downloaded at http://www.fieggen.com/software/ClipText1.exe. the ClipText program is incredibly tiny, a mere 5 KB, one of the smallest programs available on the Internet today. Swept Away If you don’t like a cluttered desktop full of open windows, try Swept Away. It is a simple system tray utility that can automatically minimise applications which aren’t being used. Inspired by the Mac-only SpiritedAway, Swept away is a kind of desktop window packrat. What it does: Minimises inactive windows after a user-defined period of time to keep your working desktop clear. If there are some windows that you just don’t want to minimise despite their inactivity, you could include them in the exclusion list. To exclude a running application, just right-click the Swept Away icon and pick the application you want to exclude on the Exclude list. Swept Away, developed by Adam Pash, is licensed under the GNU Public License. If you wish to try the 228 KB, 0.3 version (Released: April 25, 2007) can be downloaded at http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1326. Please note that there are some bugs to counter with. Secunia Software Inspector
Feature Overview of The Secunia Software Inspector: Detects insecure versions of applications installed, verifies that all Microsoft patches are applied, assists you in updating your system and applications, and runs through your browser. How it works: The Secunia Software Inspector relies on carefully crafted “Secunia File Signatures” to recognise applications on your system. The detected applications are then matched against our “Secunia Advisory Intelligence” to determine whether an application is up-to-date or not. The results are then used to advise you on how to update to more secure releases of the insecure applications. Microsoft Windows Update is used to determine if your system is missing security updates from Microsoft. The Secunia Software Inspector covers the most common/popular end user applications: internet browsers, internet browser plugins, instant messaging clients, email clients, media players, and operating systems. Please note that the Secunia Software Inspector does not cover or include information about vulnerabilities not addressed by either a new version or a security patch. Minimum Requirements: Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows 2003, Sun Java JRE 1.5.0_12, Internet Explorer 6.x, Opera 9.x, or Firefox 2.x, and the Latest version of Microsoft Windows Update. No installation or download is required. To checkout the Secunia Software Inspector you can visit http://secunia.com/software_inspector
