Double for Anup; Monisha tops

M D Anup Kiran won the boys’ under-19 title at the Reynolds Chemequip State-ranking badminton tournament here, posting a 21-12, 21-10 win over Dhruv Shanbag in the final here on Thursday.
Anup later completed a double, pairing up with Prateek Khurana to defeat T R Jeevan and Adarsh Kumar 21-15, 21-15 in the doubles final.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Anup defeated Darshan Kulkarni 21-16, 21-19 while Dhruv got past Bhushan V Anvekar 22-20, 13-21, 21-18 in a closely fought encounter..
Monisha Vinayak claimed the under-19 girls crown, defeating Ankita Ashok 22-24, 21-14, 21-15 in the title clash.
Monisha lost a closely fought first game but rallied superbly to level the tie, claiming the second 21-14. She had things well under control in the decider, romping home with a 21-15 verdict.
Double success
Ajay Patil claimed a double crown in the under-16 boys section.
He won the singles title with a 21-15, 21-18 win over Vinay Hari and then partnered R N Suraj to post a 21-7, 30-29 win over G K Ashwin and Vinay in the doubles final.

Boys: Under-19: MD Anup Kiran bt Dhruv Shanbag 21-12, 21-10.  Semifinals: Anup bt Darshan Kulkarni 21-16, 21-19; Dhruv bt Bhushan V Anvekar 22-20, 13-21, 21-18.
Doubles: Anup Kiran/ Prateek Khurana bt T R Jeevan/ Adarsh Kumar 21-15, 21-15. Semifinals: Anup/ Prateek bt Prathak Menon/ Prakash Jolly 13-21, 21-18, 23-21; Jeevan/ Adarsh bt Dhruv Shanbag/ Darshan Kulkarni 21-7, 16-21, 21-17.
Under-16: Ajay Patil bt Vinay Hari 21-15, 21-18.  Semifinals: Ajay bt Shashank Menon 21-15, 21-13; Vinay bt Rajas Jawalkar 21-13, 12-21, 21-15.
Doubles: Ajay Patil/ R N Suraj bt G K Ashwin/ Vinay Hari 21-7, 30-29.
Under-13: Siddharth S bt Shiv Nayak 21-14, 20-22, 24-22. Semifinals: Siddarth S bt B Vishwanath Kiran 21-13, 21-14; Shiv Nayak bt K V Rakshith 21-16, 21-15.
Doubles: Siddarth/ Shiv Nayak bt K V Rakshith/ B U Kiran 21-6, 21-18.
Under-10 doubles: M Raghu/ Akash Anvekar bt Linganand/ Abhishek 21-19, 21-11.
Girls: Under-19 singles: Monisha Vinayak bt Ankita Ashok 22-24, 21-14, 21-15.
Doubles: Ankita Ashok/ Jacqueline Kunnath bt Pooja / Sayali M 21-18, 18-21, 21-15;
Under-16: Anagha Unni bt Jacqueline R Kunnath 21-14, 10-21, 21-11. Semifinals: Anagha bt Uttara Prakash 21-16, 21-14; Jacqueline bt Reshma Karthik 21-7, 21-7.
Doubles: Jacqueline Kunnath/ Anagha Unni bt Nischala/ Pooja V A 21-8, 21-8.
Under-13: Reshma Karthik bt Poorvisha 21-16, 21-17.
