Easy for St Joseph’s
St Joseph’s Boys High School blanked Frank Anthony Public School 4-0 in the Allan MacBride memorial inter-school hockey tournament in Bangalore on Tuesday.
K N Tarun Thamanna (second minute), Vashav Belliappa (11th) and Shashank C N (13th and 32nd) scored for St Joseph’s.
Cathedral High School posted a 5-0 verdict against Ryan International School. Chengappa (6th), Joshua D (16th, 29th) and Madhu M (19th, 23rd) scored for Cathedral.
Despite their wins, St Joseph’s and Cathedral failed to make it to the semifinals to be held on Wednesday.
St John’s High School will play St Germain in the first semifinal while St Joseph’s Indian Middle School will take on Vidya Shilp Academy in the second semifinal.
In the Tanvi Rao memorial tournament for girls, St Euphrasias High School set up a semifinal clash with their ‘B’ team, defeating Frank Anthony Public School 2-0. Reelia Saritha (20th) and Sukanya G (25th) were the scorers. FAPS, who also have made the last four phase, will face Bishop Cotton Girls School in the other semifinal.
Liyan, Dheeraj shine
Liyan Khan’s 80-ball 134 (22x4, 1x6) and Dheeraj’s seven-wicket haul powered Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hebbal to a massive 181-run win over St Patrick’s Boys’ High School in the First Phase match of the Boost Cricket Cup inter-school tournament.
Brief scores: Kendriya Vidyalaya (Hebbal): 236/2 in 25 overs (Liyan Khan 134, Prashanth 31, Dheeraj 30 n.o.) bt St. Patrick’s Boys’ HS: 55 all out in 15 overs (Sarfraz 2-17, Dheeraj 7-13).
Sri Devraj Urs International Res. School: 222/9 in 30 overs (Nayak 42, Sachindra 72; Krishna 2-30, Rahul 4-47) bt Vivekananda Education Centre: 98 all out in 23 overs (Arun 2-16, Sudeendra 4-31, Ashish 2-13). Sri Vinayaka High School: 82 all out in 19.2 overs (Rajath 3-15, Shreyas 2-15) lt to Little Flower Public School: 86/3 in 23.3 overs. Vijaya High School: 235/3 in 30 overs (Ashwin 56, Prajwal 123 n.o.; Rahul 3-35) bt East West High School: 144 all out in 22.2 overs (Madhutej 28; Navaneeth 2-25, Satwik 4-14).
Good Shepherd School: 27 all out in 13.4 overs (Abhishek 2-13, Madhusudan 3-4, Ajay 3-1) lt to MES Kishore Kendra: 31/1 in 2.4 overs.
Big win for SAI ‘D’
Nayeemuddin scored three goals (1st, 6th, 14th minutes) to steer SAI ‘D’ to a comprehensive 7-0 win over Naveen Hockey Club ‘B’ in the State ‘C’ Division hockey league at the KSHA Stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday. Besides Nayeemuddin, Bijju (4th  and 7th) struck a brace while Pradhan Somanna (9th) and Biddappa (23rd) netted one each. 
In another match,  Synergy Sports registered a facile 5-1 win over ITC. It was in fact ITC, who went ahead with a 10th-minute goal from Senthil Kumar. But after that it was all the way Synergy as Thammanna (19th, 58th), Rahul (36th), Chandan (56th) and Umesh (59th) slotted home.
Katrela scores
Vinay Katrela, after losing the first frame, rallied back in fine style to beat Vijaya Prasad 60-71, 67-56, 71-49 in the 35th BS Sampath memorial handicap snooker tournament at the KSBA Hall on Tuesday.
Results: Vinay Katrela (+7) bt R Vijaya Prasad (+35) 2 - 1 (60-71, 67-56, 71-49); Amit Bhushan (+42) bt Uma Mahesh (+63) 2 - 0 (62-44, 77-45); Ajay Bhushan (+42) bt R Uma Devi (+35) 2 - 0 (72-55, 97-50).
On Monday: B Bhaskar (-7) bt Chetan S (+42) 2 - 1 (96-67, 63-102, 90-69); Roshan Dalwani (+35) bt V Anand (+14) 2 - 0 (67-13, 65-43); Moosa Khan (+49) bt Sunil Sharma (+7) 2 - 0 (65-33, 83-10).
Corporate soccer
KF Corp 5s, the six-city corporate football tournament, will be held in Bangalore on August 11 and 12 at SPT Sports Academy.
The winner of each city (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune) will play the finals in Bangalore on October 7. For details contact SPT Sports at ph: 65983284 or 25526296.
State senior aquatics
Karnataka Swimming Association will conduct the State Senior Aquatic Championship from August 6 to 8.
The swimming and water polo events will be held at the Corporation Swimming Pool, Basavanagudi, while the diving events will be conducted at the Corporation Swimming Pool, Jayanagar.
The State team for the 61st Senior National Aquatic Championship, to be held at Panaji from September 19 to 23, will be selected during the State meet.
