Law to curb cyber crime

Home Minister M P Prakash on Tuesday announced that the State government was seriously planning to bring a new “comprehensive” law to curb the cyber crime in the State.
Replying to a query raised by Mr V Somanna (Congress) in the Legislative Assembly, the home minister said that the Government had noticed rise in the cyber crime rate and had planned to introduce a new law to control it, besides giving importance for training of more personnel.
He said that the police had registered 40 cases of cyber crime related offences from January 2006 till now.
While 29 cases were related to hacking, six connected to publishing obscene information electronic form and five related to tampering with computer source document, the home minister said.
