Professors appointment quashed
Bangalore, DHNS:

The High Court on Tuesday quashed the appointment of Dr BC Mylarappa to the post of professor in Sociology department of Bangalore University(BU), while holding him ineligible for the same.
Justice A Venugopala Gowda pronounced an order allowing the 2003 petition filed by two former aspirants of the post, Dr R Venkatasubbaiah and Dr C Somashekar who had challenged the BU notification dated June 18, 2003.
Dr Venkatasubbaiah, then placed next to Mylarappa in the seleciton merit list (now retired) and Dr Somashekar who had not been short-listed (now professor) had impugned Mylarappa’s selection contending that he was ineligible for the post.
The Court allowed the petition with costs, while directing BU & Mylarappa to jointly pay Rs 2,500 to the petitioners as avocates’ fee.
