Head of the Department of English at St Aloysius College in Mangalore Prof A Lourdusamy was awarded PhD by Gandhigram Rural University in Tamilnadu for his theses ‘C D Narasimhaiah’s contribution to Modern Indian Literary Criticism: An assessment’.  According to a press release, this is the first full length study on the critical writings of Prof C D Narasimhaiah who is reverentially regarded as the ‘guru’ of English literary studies in India.
