Shree Rameshwaram Ramasethu Rakshana Samithi will stage a hunger strike at Phalke Krishna Achar hall on August 12 protesting aganist the move of the UPA government to demolish the ‘Rama Sethu’ at Rameshwaram which has religious and mythological significance to Hindus.
Further intensifying the protest it has also called for ‘Rameshwaram Chalo’ on August 26 , as a part fo which over 1000 people from Mangalore City Corporation limit will join the protest to be held at Rameshwaram.
Addressing a news conference Samiti honorary president Manohar Tulajaram said that the UPA which has been appeasing the minorities has now aimed at hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus, and hence this attempt to demolish Ramasethu is just a part of it.
Samiti president Ramesh, convener Jagadish Shenava, co-convener Vasudeva Gowda and other office bearers were present.
