Federer not keen on Hawk-Eye
World number one Roger Federer admitted he still does not trust the Hawk-Eye system that has been brought in to assist with disputed line-calls.
Hawk-Eye, which uses a number of cameras to determine where the ball has landed, has been met with a favourable response from most players, but the Wimbledon champion said he did not believe it was fully accurate.


India move into semifinals
Striker Pramod Kumar struck in the closing minutes as India came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory over hosts Germany and march into the semifinals of the eight-nation under-21 hockey tournament in Monchengladbach, reports PTI from New Delhi.

 Blasberg converted a penalty corner in the 11th minute to give the hosts an early lead, but J Singh levelled the score in the 23rd minute before Pramod struck home in the 67th to seal the victory.

In the last four, the undefeated Indians will take on Belgium while the Netherlands and Spain will fight it out in the other semifinal.

FIH puts off  decision
The International Hockey Federation has deferred any decision on the possible shifting of the Champions Trophy venue from Pakistan.

FIH decided to consult the Pakistan Hockey Federation and all other participating nations before taking any decision. Australia have already pulled out of the event, scheduled for December this year. FIH will also not decide on a replacement of Australia before next month.

South Africa leave out Kallis
South Africa have left batsman Jacques Kallis out of the squad for next month's Twenty20 world championship they are hosting, reports Reuters from Johannesburg.

Squad: Graeme Smith (captain), Gulam Bodi, Loots Bosman, Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Herschelle Gibbs, Justin Kemp, Albie Morkel, Morne Morkel, Makhaya Ntini, Vernon Philander, Shaun Pollock, Thandi Tshabalala, Johan van der Wath.

Half-marathon on October 28
The third edition of Hutch Delhi half-marathon, the richest event of its kind in the world, will take place on October 28, reports PTI from New Delhi. This year the event will have $160,000 as prize money and 10,000 running places are on offer for the half marathon, organisers said.

Kenya bowled out for 218
A fine bowling show from India ‘A’ helped them wrap up hosts Kenya’s first innings for a modest 218 on the opening day of their three-day cricket match at Mombasa, reports PTI from New Delhi.

India Test reject paceman Irfan Pathan picked three wickets for 57 runs with fellow fast bowler Pankaj Singh (3 -35) and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha (3-54) gave good support to Singh.

At the close of play India were 30 for the loss of two wickets, with Mohammad Kaif and Niraj Patel being out. Parthiv Patel was batting on 19 and Irfan Pathan was not out at four when the stumps were drawn on Firday with Indians trailing Kenya by 188 runs.

Khan bags ITF singles title
Pakistan top seed Aqeel Khan won the $10,000 ITF men’s title beating India’s Aditya Madkekar in the final at Ludhiana on Saturday, reports PTI from New Delhi. Khan beat the fourth-seeded Indian 6-3, 7-6 (5).
