Show planned to relive Tipu battle

A proposal to set up a sound and light show worth Rs one crore, most likely in Tipus Fort has been made to the Centre, said Kannada and Culture Minister Mahadev Prasad.

 A proposal to start a sound and lights show at Srirangapatna, recreating Tipu’s battle against the British, has been made by the State government to the Centre.

Over Rs one crore will also be spent on restoration of monuments in the heritage city in a phased manner over the next three years.

A proposal to set up a sound and light show worth Rs one crore, most likely in Tipu’s Fort has been made to the Centre, said Kannada and Culture Minister Mahadev Prasad.

It was decided in the meeting called by Tourism Secretary I M Vittalamurthy in Srirangapatna recently, that renovations of monuments along with overall development of Srirangapatna should be carried out, said Commissioner, Department Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mr Machakanur. There are monuments, which are more than 200 years old, in need of repair and renovations, he said.

A survey is being conducted and a detailed plan will be prepared. Renovation of monuments in othercities like Mysore, Bidar, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Kittur, will also be renovated.
