Uttarakhand govt to promote cow urine
Dehra Dun,DHNS:

After banning cow slaughter in Uttarakhand, the BJP government is now promoting Gomutra or cow’s urine in the state.

Sensing its “unique” qualities which include anti-carcinogenic agents, the Uttarakhand government will set up cooperative societies at the block level for collection of gomutra which would be sold to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev.
The Yoga guru has evinced his interest to buy cow urine for his Haridwar-based Divya Yog Pharmacy, which produces various Ayurvedic formulations using gomutra.

According to preliminary reports, Baba Ramdev is ready to buy gomutra at the rate of Rs 6 per litre. “We have received a proposal from Baba Ramdev on gomutra and we are seriously considering it,” said Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Minister Trivendra Rawat.

Mr Rawat would be travelling to Haridwar on Aug 16 to hold further talks with Baba Ramdev on the issue. He said a meeting has already been held earlier.

Since cow’s urine has the quality of not decaying for at least 10 to 15 days, the government is also thinking of instituting a bank for the procurement of cow’s urine from cooperative societies.

A special awareness programme, he said, would also be launched at the village-level on cow’s urine.

Last month, the government enacted a law banning the slaughter of cows in the state. Under the Act, the slaughter of cows is an offence that is punishable with imprisonment for a term and maybe even a fine to the tune of Rs10,000.
