Conserving national heritage through stamps
Bangalore, DHNS:

The Karnataka Postal Circle paid tribute to India Post by celebrating ‘Post Day’ on Sunday. The event coincided with the valedictory function of KARNAPEX 2007, a three-day Karnataka State-level philatelic exhibition organised at Jnanajyothi auditorium.

A special postal cover on India Post was also released on this occasion. The cover depicts the logos of different organisations associated with Karnataka Postal Circle and signifies public-private partnership.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph, lauded the efforts of the Karnataka Postal Circle for organising an exhibition which encourages the art of philately.

Expressing his happiness over the participation of a large number of students in the exhibition, the Chief Justice advised them to take part in academic and extra curricular activities with equal interest and keep away from bad company. “Children should be capable of facing all the challenges of life. Parents and teachers should train them to become bold human beings,” he said.

“More number of youngsters should show interest in philately and conserve the heritage of our country by collecting stamps,” said Meera Datta, Principal Chief Post Master General of Karnataka Circle.
