India has to come out of political pressures: Moily
DH News Service, Mangalore:
Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman M Veerappa Moily said that every sensible nation is joining hands with US for development and that there is nothing wrong if India is doing the same thing.

“It will be a historical blunder if India don’t sign the nuclear deal with US, as we have the best opportunity now,” said Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman M Veerappa Moily.

Speaking at an interactive session on ‘Insight into administrative and civic reforms in India’ at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday, he said that every sensible nation is joining hands with US for development and that there is nothing wrong if India is doing the same thing. “Without coming out of the political pressures, India can never move forward,” he added.

Speaking of the developmental activities in India, he said that nothing is impossible and that China and Singapore has proven this fact. “The problem is with people’s mindset,” he added. The Ashoka Chakra, a wheel symbolizes change.

The wheel has to turn, he said and added that the success of every developmental project depends upon the people’s ability to adapt with the changes brought about by it.

India has the hidden power and energy for rapid development, but we need to unleash it, he said and added that a new India will emerge from the new ideas, provided we obtain a freedom from poverty.

“We complain of brain drain. But actually a reverse process has started. Global players are coming to India now,” Mr Moily said. Money is not that hinders development in present day India, but the mindset of the administrators who have to decide how to use the money, he added.

KCCI President Capt John Prasad Menezes submitted a set of suggestions for administrative and civic reforms in the country, especially for Dakshina Kannada district.

MLA Abhayachandra Jain, KCCI Vice President Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, Hon Secretaries Srinivas Kamath and Shekhar Poojary and Hon Treasurer Ahmed Bava were present on the dais. Other dignitaries like Airport Director M R Vasudeva, KPCC District Secretary Ivan D’Souza were present on the occasion.

LALU TO MANGALORE?

Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav may come down to Mangalore to inaugurate the passenger train traffic in the Mangalore-Hassan route, hinted Chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission M Veerappa Moily, speaking at the interactive session at KCCI.

He said that the Prime Minister too is interested in coming down to inaugurate various developmental projects in the coastal belt, but is waiting for the rainy season to get over, so as to avoid his previous experience. It may be recalled that the PM had to return without coming to Mangalore last year as his flight couldn’t land here due to bad weather.
