The Taluk Rakshana Vedike members protested against the apathy by the doctors in the maintainance of the general hospital at Malur.
The hospital has been facing umpteen problems, they alleged.There has been shortage of doctors, useful medicines, they complained. Blackmarketing of medicines is in full swing in the hospital, they added.
The members also said that the doctors have been insincere towards their duties and also arrive very late to the hopital.
The taluk medical officer on the day of protest too came late adding to the enragement of the protesters.
There are also no specialists to treat dental, bone and ENT specialists which has been causing great inconvenience for the patients, they complained. They demanded for lady surgeons too. There has been lack of sanitation, no proper beds and also syringes are reused, they alleged.
They also questioned the functioniong of medical officer Dr Shrinivas Gowda. The protesters took back the protest only after the District Health Officer Dr Rajiv came to the spot and assured them of resolving their problems.
