At least 13 militants were killed by Pakistan army on Monday when they attacked a security check post in South Waziristan, even as four people were killed and six others injured in a car bomb blast in North West Frontier Province on the eve of country’s Independence Day.
Army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said that some 70 militants attacked the check post at 2 a.m. in South Waziristan.
He, however, did not say if there was any casualty on the part of the security forces. The security forces surrounded the militants in early hours and called more forces for support.
