Synergy enter second phase
Synergy Sports trounced Kaveri Sports Club 6-1 to move into the second phase of the State ‘C’ division hockey league at the KSHA stadium on Monday.
The margin of victory became crucial in the end because Synergy tied with MEG Boys & Co ‘B’ on ten points apiece after three wins and a draw each. While Synergy had a goal difference of plus 13, MEG had plus 12, and missed out on progressing beyond the first stage.
Rahul Katke (32, 48) scored a brace for Synergy, while Thimmanna (27), Rakshith (36), Dasarath (56) and Nachappa (60) accounted for one goal each. Kaveri’s consolation strike came from Belliappa in the 58th minute. In the day’s first match, Bellary Hockey Club trounced Rising Star 13-1. Venkatesh did the start turn with six goals including a hat-trick, opening the scoring in the 11th minute and scoring further in the 13th, 18th, 20th, 22nd and 27th minutes. The other goals came from Pramod (12), Maylar (25), Praveen Reddy (28), Shashi (32, 59), Ratnakar (37) and Ravi (58), and all this after Punith had scored in the 12th minute for Rising Star to cancel out Venkatesh’s early strike.
Army School (MEG) in semis
Army School (MEG) blanked Bengal Military School 8-0 to enter the semifinals of the GS Randhawa Memorial inter-school hockey tournament on Monday. The losing side also entered the last four stage.
Arun Kumar (20th, 46th) and Vijay (35th, 36th) scored a brace each, while Nagalinga (28th), Avinash (37th), Chamraj (38th) and Bhavanth (44th) scored the remaining goals.
Army School (ASC) and Sports School (Kudige) also made it to the semifinals.

St Charles win throwball title
St Charles High School, St Thomas Town beat Vidyaniketan High School, Hebbal, 25-16, 21-25, 15-8 in the final to win the Frank Antony Public School inter-ICSE under-16 throwball tournament.
