Traffic curbs in City for I-Day

In view of the 60th Independence Day celebrations, Bangalore traffic police have announced some restrictions and diversions around Manekshaw Parade grounds.


In view of the 60th Independence Day celebrations, Bangalore traffic police have announced the following traffic restrictions and diversions around Manekshaw Parade grounds.

The entry point to pass-holders and movement of vehicles will be as follows:

* Yellow pass: Yellow car pass-holders will enter through gate no 1 facing northern side of Brigade Parade Ground through Cubbon Road and park vehicles on western side of Parade Ground.

* White pass: VIPs, ministers and invitees with white car pass, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries to government, sr police officers, military officers, etc will to enter through gate no 2, i.e., Cubbon Road in front of Military Supply Depot and park vehicles inside the ground.

* Pink pass: Pink pass-holders will park vehicles at BRV Police Parade Grounds (entry of vehicles to BRV Parade ground is through M G Road) and walk to the ground through gate no 3 located on Kamraaja Road.

* Green pass: Green car pass-holders will to park vehicles at BRV Parade Ground (entry of vehicles to BRV Parade Ground is through M G Road) and walk to the ground through gate no 4 located on Kamaraj Road.

Parking

* Vehicles with participants of the parade and cultural events will enter the ground through gate no 3. The vehicles can be parked behind the fort wall inside the parade ground.

* Vehicles of PWD, BMP and other government departments will enter ground through gate no 3. Vehicles can be parked behind the fort wall.

* Two-wheelers should be parked on Kamaraja Road and their riders will enter through gate no 3 facing Kamaraj Road.

* Those who do not have car passes can park their vehicles on Kamaraj Road parking area and enter through gate no 3 facing Kamaraj Road.

Traffic diversions

* Traffic will be diverted on August 15 from 6:30 am to 10:30 am from BRV Junction to Kamaraj Road junction (both directions) on to Cubbon Road.

* Vehicles coming from CTO Circle towards Manipal Centre on Cubbon Road will take a left turn on Central Street Junction - right turn - Infantry Road - Safina Plaza - left turn - Main Guard Road - Allies Circle - Dispensary Road - Kamaraj Road and Dickenson Road Junction - Right turn - K R Road - K R Road junction - left turn and Cubbon Road onwards to Manipal Centre junction.

* Vehicles coming from Manipal junction towards CTO junction on Cubbon Road will take a left turn at K R Road junction towards Cauvery Arts and Crafts junction - right turn - M G Road - Anil Kumble Circle - right turn - BRV junction - left turn - and on to CTO Circle.

* Vehicles coming from Anil Kumble Circle towards Cubbon Road will go straight on Central Street junction - right turn - Infantry Road - Safina Plaza - left turn - Main Guard Road - Allies circle - Dispensary Road - Kamaraja Road and Dickenson Road junction - right turn - K R Road junction --- left turn - and Cubbon Park onwards to Manipal Centre junction.

* Vehicles coming from Cauvery Arts and Crafts Circle on M G Road going towards Cubbon Road and K R Road junction shall go straight on M G Road towards Anil Kumble junction - right turn - BRV junction - left turn - Cubbon Road and on to CTO Circle.

* Due to security reasons, cellphones, cameras, radio, umbrella and any other equipment will not be allowed inside Parade Grounds. All are requested to be seated before 8:30 am.


SECURITY UP

Security has been beefed up at all major buildings and the Manekshaw Parade ground as part of the scaled-up security arrangements across Bangalore ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

This is in view of the heightened security situation across the country due to terrorist threats. “There is going to be a visible police presence at sensitive points, including bus station, railway stations and airport. Dog squads and Home Guards too have been deployed. Extensive inspection of passengers’ baggage is being carried out by rly police.
