Inclusion of certain areas in MUDA flayed
DH News Service, Madikeri:
Panchayat Presidents of Karavele Badaga, K Nidugane, Karnangeri, Mukkandoor, Ebnivalavadi, Kadagadalu, Mekeri, Madenadu, Thalathmane and Monangeri have opposed the inclusion of these villages in the Madikeri Urban Development Authority (MUDA) jurisdiction.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, Taluk Panchayat member Napanda Kalappa, Zilla Panchayat President B C Neelamma and members of various Taluk Panchayats warned of an intense protest if these Gram Panchayats are included under Madikeri Urban Development Authority.

They said that alll Gram Panchayats have supported this objection and their resolution will be sent to the Government in writing.

Mr Kalappa said that if these villages are brought under the control of MUDA then the villagers will have to take permission from the MUDA to even build a cow shed, which again will take long time for approval.  He said that apart from this those who have a land holding of less than one and a half acres cannot get an Ashraya home.
With all these drawbacks, he said that these villages must be kept out of MUDA jurisdiction.

He also said that government has to immediately drop the idea of declaring Pushpagiri, Brahmagiri and Thalacauvery as Greater Thalacauvery Reserve Forest. K Nidugane Gram Panchayat president M D Bopanna, Galibeedu Gram Panchayat President Devaki Rai and others were present.
