Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Monday urged the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to protect IT and Textile industry in Bangalore, which are under threat due to appreciating rupee.
A delegation of CII which met the Chief Minister in Bangalore expressed its apprehension that many in textile sector would lose their jobs if the problem of appreciating rupee is not addressed immediately. As far as IT sector is concerned India could easily lose its edge to China.
According to CII Chairman Reguraj, CII will shortly present a list of recommendations to be implemented by the State government to protect these two sectors. “Today’s meeting was to apprise the government about the present situation. We will shortly submit a list of recommendations in this regard,” he added.
The industry delegation has also expressed its concern over slow progress in implementing projects to provide high-speed connectivity to Devanahalli international airport. “We asked the Chief Minister to expedite all airport connectivity projects,” Mr Reguraj said.
Besides, CII while requesting the government to take up corridor projects between Bangalore and Chennai, Bangalore and Belgaum and Bangalore and Mysore, extended its support to implement infrastructure projects, a CII release said.
