The 60-day long event, ‘Namma India @ 60’, aimed at inculcating patriotism amongst students will culminate on Wednesday.
The event in which 250 schools participated, has been organised by Namma India Trust, an NGO, in association with Deccan Herald. ‘Namma India @ 60’ includes competitions on compiling projects on freedom fighters to the students’ vision of India at 2022 .
On Independence Day, lakhs of thorans (festoons) made by the schoolchildren will be tied on the fence around Ulsoor Lake. Around 3000 students will take part in Freedom Run starting at 11 am and another relay in which students of Class X will participate. The cultural programme and prize distribution will be held at CMR National Public School at 4.30 pm.
Rangoli contest
Bangalore, dhns: The 60th Independence Day celebration on Wednesday promises to be very colourful.
The city-based Suvarna Jyothi Trust is organising a rangoli competition at Cubbon Park wherein some 3,000 women, men and children of all age will display their skills in rangoli drawings. “Rangoli is planned to be drawn covering 3 kms stretch of road inside the park. Each rangoli will be of minimum 4/4 ft size,” Secretary of the Trust Gopalakrishna said.
