Seer sees meddling in ashram affairs
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Purushottamananda Swamiji of Bhageeratha Mutt, Hosadurga in Chitradurga on Tuesday alleged that some “vested interests” were interfering in the affairs of Omkarashrama at Srinivaspura in Bangalore and preventing his installation as successor to the ashram.

Addressing a press conference here, he made an indirect attack on Adichunchanagiri Swamiji for interfering in the ashram affairs.

The seer said as per July 16 will of late Shivapuri Swamiji, he should take over as ashram successor and former IAS officer D Gangappa should act as executor of the Trust.

“But on August 5, suddenly Madhusudhananda Swamiji was installed as the successor, causing injustice to the Uppar community,” he said.

Former KPSC member H C Neeravari, who was also present, said he would apprise the government of the development and seek its help in getting justice to the Uppar community.

Locked up
Mr Gangappa said on July 25 night when the Swamiji passed away, police locked up the entire ashram, including the hundis.

“But at the behest of Health Minister R Ashok, the ashram was reopened and the money in hundis taken away. Who authorised the police to open the locks? I demand a CoD inquiry because crores of rupees are involved,” he said.

Stating that Omkarsharama was the only “mutt” for Uppars in the State, Mr Gangappa warned they would not keep quiet if it was taken away from them. “Dalit organisations have extended their support  to our cause. If the ashrama is not restored to us, we will launch an agitation,” he warned.
