NO TEETH
Bangalore, DHNS:

Suspecting the role of police in the organ trading case, Authorisation Committee member Dr H N Sudarshan has opined that the case should be given to the Lokayukta police.

Talking to media-persons on Tuesday, Dr Sudarshan said, the committee had a review meeting on Tuesday in wake of the busting of kidney trading racket.

He said, a clear picture would emerge after the documentation of the entire case. He said, the revenue authorities are conducting survey of donors’ financial background and at the end police have to certify that the donors did not give their kidneys for financial reasons.

He suspected that police may try to hush up the case. “Except an SP, other police officers are trying to suppress the case of grave nature. I recommend the case be handed over to the Lokayukta police,” said Dr Sudarshan.

When asked whether he suspected involvement of any member of the Authorisation Committee in the scandal, he said he does not think there is any corrupt person in the Committee. “Six years ago, there was corruption but I don’t think the present Committee has corrupt people. Couple of members are very honest,” he said adding that the Authorisation Committee requires more teeth.
