MTech Geoinformatics
Karnataka State Remote Sensing Application Centre under the department of information technology, bio-technology and, science and technology is offering MTech Geo-informatics course in association with Survey of India under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

The selection process of candidates through counselling is currently in progress at VTU. Candidates who have passed BE examinations with 50 per cent of marks in aggregate of all years of degree examination can seek admission. Admission is based on GATE or PGCET merit through counseLling at VTU, Belgaum.

Candidates who have not taken either GATE or PGCET examination but desirous of joining the M.Tech Geoinformatics course can be considered for admission after August 17. Learning disabilities
The Department of Psychological Studies at the University of Mysore, has started a one year (full time) M.Phil in Learning Disabilities course. The course is unique and the only one of its kind in South India. In collaboration with the UGC the course has been designed to mould aspiring individuals into professionals for the benefit of teaching children with learning disabilities.

The course covers neurological, psychological, cognitive and linguistic aspects of Learning Disabilities and Remedial Teaching. In addition, students will have actual practical experience and training in working with children with LD. Successful completion of the course will enable a student to take up jobs such as Remedial Teacher, School Psychologist, Learning Specialist in government and non-governmental establishments or to practice consultancy and remediation independently. There are also ample opportunities for taking up further research in the field. Duration of the course: Two semesters.

Eligibility for Admission: Master’s degree in Psychology/Special Education/Education/Speech & Language/ Speech & Hearing/Linguistics/Medicine/Neurology/Human-Development/Behavioural-Science/Master’s degree in any subject with B.Ed./Master’s degree in any subject with one year diploma or certificate course in Clinical Linguistics/Dyslexia/Learning Disability from recognised institutions.

Askson Academie
Applications are invited from eligible candidates who want to join the degree programmes of Bangalore University at Aakson Academie for the following courses: BA-Journalism & Psychology, B.Sc-Biotechnology, BBM, B.Com & BCA.

Annamalai’s programmes
The Annamalai University Distance Education Programmes have been approved by the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi. The Directorate of Distance Education of Annamalai University is offering a wide spectrum of Programmes through Distance Education during the academic year 2007-2008.  This includes 43 new programmes introduced this year. Distance Education Council, (DEC) New Delhi has approved 110 of the programmes offered by the Directorate of Distance Education. The Distance Education Council has said that priority will be given in employment opportunity for those who study programmes approved by the Distance Education Council. Now admissions are in progress for the various programmes. The last date for admission is August 30, 2007. 

IBAB admissions
IBAB, Bangalore, a public-private initiative of Government of Karnataka and ICICI Bank has announced admissions for postgraduate courses in: Bioinformatics; Cheminformatics; Biotechniques.
Last date for receipt of filled forms is September 1, 2007

PG in Emergency Care
Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) has invited applications for the second batch of post graduate programme in emergency care (PGPEC), scheduled to begin on September 18.
The application forms can be obtained and submitted online — www.emri.in/edu. The written test for the second batch will be conducted across major cities, including Bangalore on September 8, 9 and 10, 2007, followed by interview on 12, 13 and 14.

PGPEC is a two-year full-time residential programme in emergency care.

Ophthalmic Technic Course
Applications are invited from SSLC completed candidates for one year “Certificate in Ophthalmic Technic Course”. Candidates will get a stipend of Rs 2000 for one year. On completion of the course they will be absorbed as Patient Care Assistants on a salary of Rs 2,800 pm.

Clinical research

Medical writing course: The classes will commence from mid-September. Maximum number of student per batch is ten. The duration of the course is for six month with weekend classes only. Timing: 9.00-2.00pm.

Eligibility: Post graduate in life Science. Doctors - MBBS, M.Pharma and B.Pharma. Age limit - 35 years.

Candidates with qualification and eligibility have to take up an entrance test, aptitude test, English test, Basic computer test.
