Drive away terrorism: Alangur

“Each Indian should strive towards preserving the freedom obtained after much sacrifice by our elders; we should dedicate ourselves to remove terrorism from the country.” This was the message given by Municipal Administration Alangur Srinivas to the people of Kolar.

The Minister was addressing the gathering after hoisting the tricolour at the Visweswaraya Stadium on the occasion of the 60th Independence Day celebrations, organised by the district administration.

Mr Srinivas, who is also in charge of the district called upon the people to remember the sacrifices made by all those who were instrumental in the country gaining independence specially when the country was celebrating the 150th anniversary of the First War of Independence, Shahid Bhagat Singh’s birth centenary as well as the 75th year of his sacrifice.

After gaining independence, the nation formulated a constitution and for its overall development adopted the five year plans to eradicate poverty and unemployment, remove economic disparity and provide basic infrastructure to sectors including agriculture, industries and others, the Minister said and added that several socio-economic programmes had been taken up for the purpose.

Terrorism

Dwelling on terrorism, Mr Srinivas asserted that the Central and State governments were fighting against anti-social elements, those that threatened the fabric of the society and terrorised people at large, by forming several plans. At this juncture, it is imperative that the youth, particularly students should nurture patriotism in themselves and try to remove internal as well as external terrorism, he said.

The Minister defended the decision to form new districts, saying that Kolar was being bifurcated into Kolar and Chikkaballapur to facilitate better administration; the move would ensure smooth administration , he reiterated.

An action plan worth Rs 22.27 crore had been sanctioned to provide jobs to agricultural labourers as well as farmers; a sum of Rs 7.09 crore had been sanctioned towards solving the drinking water problem.

The drought relief works had also been taken up on a war footing and so far, 2,819 works had been taken up, Mr Srinivas enumerated.

Basic facilities

Alangur Shrinivas said that the Central government has sanctioned Rs two lakh from  MP’s fund for the development of roads, community halls, water conservation, development of education, health, drinking water, he added.

As many as Rs 17.33 crore has been released for the developmental works from the MLA’s area development fund, he stated.

Farmers have been provided agricultural equipments for storing 2,500 metric tonnes of sowing seeds, he added.
As many as 7,847 groups under Stree shakthi scheme has been given a revolving fund of Rs 421.98 lakh, the Minister expalined.

As many as 6,363 deserved beneficiaries have been identified under Bhagyalakshmi Scheme and 12,793 beneficiaries under Special Unit scheme, he said.

Sowing seeds have been distributed to petty farmers and measures are being taken to improve Social forestry, Horticulture, agriculture, water shed development , eradication of child labour, rural development. Girls education is given prominence and nearly 76 lakh has been spent. Seven Kasturba girls’ schools have been started for the benefit of girls, he added.

Nearly 13,423 high school boys are provided with cycles also, he said. Union Minister K H Muniyappa, legislators K Srinivasagowda, Nazeer Ahmed and D S Veeraiah, ZP President V Venkatamuniyappa, member Mangamma Muniswamy, Deputy Commissioner Ramachandra, ZP CEO K S Suryanarayana, SP B Dayanand, District Cooperative Union Bank Chairman Byalahalli M Govindagowda were present.

Chickballapur

Sub division officer Kulakarni after hoisting the flag at Sir M V Stadium at Chickballapur, expressed happiness over the declaration of Chickballapur as new district and sought the co-operation of the public. Freedom fighter Narasimhaiah was felicitated.

MLA S M Muniyappa spoke. Designated Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav, taluk panchayat president S Y Mariyappa, DySP Chandramohan Singh, ZP executive engineer H Devaraju, Assistant executive engineer Venkataswamy, DDPI Bellashetty, Tahsildar Purnima, BEO R Ashwathaiah, taluk panchayat executive officer M Ashwathappa were present.

Bangarpet

Meanwhile, in Bangarpet Tahsildar G V Nagaraj  hoisted the flag at the Junior College stadium in Bangarpet. MLA B P Venkatamuniyappa presided over the function .

Taluk Panchayat president Vibha Sudarshan Reddy, taluk panchayat executive officer Dr Venkataswamy, ZP Assistant Executive engineer M Ramakrishnappa, circle Inspector A G Kriyappa, Town Municipal Corporation Chief officer M Narayan, BEO A Mallashetty were present.

Mulbagal

In Mulbagal, Tahsildar C Manjunath hoisted the flag at Netaji Stadium and received the guard of honour.
Senior freedom fighter of the district Ganjigunti D N Lakshman, B H Narayan Gowda of Bairakur village, Chikkappaiah of Mothakapali village were felicitated by the Taluk administration.

Freedom fighter Mandikal Shrinivas, BEO K M Jayarama Reddy, Kannadabhata Venkatappa, taluk state employees’ association president K V Subramanyam, vice president C Krishnappa, vice president Shriram, taluk primary teachers’ association president Kembodi Nagaraj were present.

Malur

Taluk magistrate G Rashmi hoisted the flag at Government boys higher primary school in Malur. The programme was presided over by MLA S N Krishnaiah Shetty. Taluk panchayat president Kanakamma Gopalakrishna was the chief guest. EO Umakanth, BEO H V Subramanyam, principal of Government PU College Lalitha Kumari, Government Girls PU College principal Venkateshappa, Circle inspector of Police P Sivakumar were present.

Bagepalli

Meanwhile in Bagepalli taluk magistrate Dr Rupashree hoisted the flag. MLA G V Shrirama Reddy delivered the speech. Taluk panchayat president S S Ramesh Babu, vice president Naseema Shanu, ZP members A V Poojappa, M B Chikkanarasimhaiah, Shrinivas, Mohammad Shafi, BEO Manujunath, Circle Inspector R Manjunath, Town municipal corporation chief officer A V Anjinappa, taluk panchayat Executive officer Dr Shrinivas  were present.
